Gloria Gallegos has advocated for a brighter future for Pasadena her entire adult life. A Pasadena High School graduate, Gloria graduated from San Jacinto College with an A.A. and The University of Houston – Clear Lake with a B.S. in Education, Magna Cum Laude, after which she joined Pasadena ISD as a teacher in the early 1980s, with a focus on helping all children learn how to read.
For the past 35 years, Gloria has committed herself to improving educational opportunity and success for all children in Pasadena. Rising through the ranks she has served for the past 15 years as an Associate Superintendent in the district, which, with over 5,000 employees, is the largest employer in Pasadena. In this leadership role, she has managed complex, but critical, federally funded programs, balanced and managed a budget of over $23,000,000, that has improved family literacy, promoted a safe and drug free school environment, and improved teacher quality.
Reaching out to connect with people and strengthen Pasadena is part of Gloria’s DNA. Whether through chairing the Council of Ministries at Asbury Methodist Church, serving on the Board of Directors of leading nonprofit and community organizations such as Neighborhood Centers or Bayshore Hospital, or providing leadership and service to critical civic efforts such as the Community Development Board, Crime Prevention Board, or Chamber of Commerce of Pasadena, Gloria has not only had her finger on the pulse of the key issues affecting Pasadena, but also worked hard and led to ensure that Pasadena works for all of its residents.
As Mayor of Pasadena, Gloria will bring her skills of managing multimillion dollar budgets, leading organizations and teams and combine her expertise in education, health, and community to bring transparency and efficiency back to the City of Pasadena. By leveraging her experience bringing people together in our community she’ll make Pasadena a place that each and every member of our community can thrive and contribute to Pasadena’s success.
